When men get hold of animals he blows them up and then he blows up. Fill 'em so full of chemicals and steroids it ruins the people. It makes them sick. Like the pigs on the farm. They's 3 months old and weighing 400 pounds. They's all blowed up. And the chil'ren who eat it, they's all blowed up. Don't make no sense."
It was the best I could do, under the circumstances.

Because hunting squirrel and raccoons--that's not Beverly Hillbilly at all! A veggie garden in the backyard seems kinda classy by comparison...
I'm very grateful that it is getting easier (and more affordable) to get free range, hormone free meat. Because I am a carnivore, albeit a picky one.
Glad to have you back!
read that article to the other day--interesting stuff.
Welcome back to posting...
Very interesting about hunting in his back yard. I would tend to think the neighbors might get a tad upset with him shooting his rifle to get dinner (in or out of season?) so close to home. I do have to admit though, Raccoon does make a good meal if prepared right. I have 3 recipes from one of my cookbooks if you are interested in them. One is for smoking them, another roasting, and finally one served with Corn (fried)
I am also glad to have you back. We missed you.
I don't eat too many meats, so not sure I could spring for raccoon... ugh. Interesting article though. Love his quote that you posted. Great stuff.
Glad to see back; whatever's gotcha down, I empathize big-time. I'm fighting some of those demons myself right now, and all due to the economy of course...
Hang in there, girlie.
For you I give you this---

Welcome back to posting and thanks for stopping by the other day.
I've had raccoon, once. It was...interesting....
I'm not sure I would try it again. Although at least I know it's edible.

That was hilariously NASTY! I'm thinking I'll leave the coons to the woods. Glemie whats-his-name was pretty cool though.
Glad to see you back, Meadowlark!
I've read other stories about urban areas reverting to a more natural state as the population shrinks. It's a global phenomenon.
I've not tried racoon but I'd give it a try if it was a rural one not the one eating from my garbage can at nights.
Bear is better than moose and Racoons are just little bears, no?
I'd welcome someone to harvest some of the ones in my neighbourhood, they are far to common and ravage the gardens.
