On this Independence Day...

I sit back and smile.

That's my great uncle, a former Marine. Another uncle (picture being found from Great Aunt) was a grunt in Korea and a 34 pilot in Viet Nam.

Above is Husband - a 46 crewchief (stud) and next will beYoungSon. But not until May.

And would you believe there only exists one picture of me other than bootcamp? I am such a dope!!! I was young, hot, blonde and a Marine and I have absolutely ZERO evidence. AAAAARRRRHHH!!!!

Today on the phone after relating his MEPS stories, YoungSon said "I know this might sound odd, but I really feel that this will bring us even closer" and I replied "not only will we be parent and child, but now we will be brothers".

Weird. I know. But some of you understand, I'm sure.

Anyway, these are the people I'm proudest of on this day.

Semper Fi, my brothers.

I understand. Go ahead and smile. I have a wall of pictures in the upstairs hallway--I smile every time I walk by.

I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for anyone in the military, so this post really has a special place in my heart. Here's my little input on the 4th: http://natnchris1230.blogspot.com/2009/07/why-we-celebrate-july-4th.html

Thanks for sharing and I regret as well that you don't have any pics from your glory days as a marine!

Thanks to you and your family, Gal. My youngest just joined the Air Force so we're a new military family. She sent me a text wishing the US Happy Birthday...I love that she's found her calling.

That is such an amazing thing, that connection. I don't get it from a miliatry perspective, but I do get it from an LEO point of view.

Thanks to all your family for your service to keep us free.
We REALLY do feel proud of all of you. And cannot thank you enough, ever. And you are STILL hot...milk maid braids and all.
