Trooper's Gal posted about "Those Wings" and well, I just thought I'd share the latest from MY branch. Especially since we're just a few days away from turning 234!!!!
But my personal favorite (yes, a repost) is this one. I have a slight CH46 fetish apparently. Even before Husband became a crew chief (sigh... what a STUD) I used to park at the flight line and watch these planes fly. They make my heart race. And once ole' Hubby was involved? It just doesn't get any better.
Please note: This is NOT a shithook, um, er I mean Chinook. ;) It is the illustrious BATTLE PHROG!!!

I had not seen the commercial--kewl. I'll send Gunny Dad over for a look.
And you tell Gunny Dad that I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARINE. OK, a few days early, but still... and there's a couple more posts after this. I'm sure I'm driving everybody else away! LOL
It's not every day you can use "Battle Phrog" in a sentence.
Go ahead leatherneck, post away. I'll be reading.

You asked if you show up in my feeders or whatever. The only way I know anyone's stopping by regularly is if they show up on Feedjit and that is notoriously fickle. I have several readers across the country who read all the time and they NEVER show up but since they do comment, I at least know they're coming by, ha! If I depended on Feedjit alone, I'd think I was getting maybe 5 people per day but my little "Vote for Me" thingy is always going up at a rate much faster than the Feedjit shows, tho I have no idea who's stopping in to vote, either. So I just tippy-tap away and figure if someone's stopping by, fine. I can't seem to inspire more comments, even with Delurking Days and whatever, so I gave up on Stat Counters and all that about a year ago. It was becoming too obsessive/compulsive with me and I don't have time or energy to get caught up in that merry-go-round. I'm sorry this is so long, but I don't have your email address any more. Your comments used to show it but now they don't...another one of Blogger's little mysteries??? Hahaha!
Oh, and don't worry about being 'fired up'!! We're all entitled to our opinions. And I learned a lesson when you chided me about the difference between EX-Marines and FORMER Marines. I'd have gone on totally unaware of the difference if you'd never pointed it out. And I would never, ever EVER want to offend ANY member...active OR former...of our military. So I thank you again for that life lesson! (((HUG)))
My 3 year old informed me a few weeks ago that when he grows up he wants to be a soldier (well, and a police officer but that last one's a given). Instead of getting scared, I felt so proud that even at such a young age, my son wants to serve his country.
He may not really know what it means, still doesn't know what division he wants to go into (though we're keen on Marines, even before all your awesome tidbits), and may change his mind. I'll show him this post and ask him what he thinks. ;)
I'm only going to encourage him to follow his dreams. Thanks for these!
P.S. I really liked the mash-up of celtic and techno in the last clip. Very cool.
Good to see you Ole' Furt & Miss Kris. :)
Nat, I have mom's saying "Oh, aren't you worried about your son going into the military?" and my response is "he can die crossing the street. When he's called home, he'll be going whether he's a Marine or a plumber. And at least this way, he'll die having earned the title."
I'm such a realist.
I missed that Susan... you're right, Battle Phrog is a tough one to fit in, but soooo worth it when you do!
That first one with the guys dropping what they're doing and running. Loved it. Gave me goosebumps.
WOW!

Happy Birthday, Devil Dogs!
What IS IT with you chopper types?! LOL Hubby lurves them, his pal flies them and I think they are technically not supposed to work.
Still, they sure do make an impression.
